Biotechnology is an applied and integrated science that integrates knowledge from Natural Sciences and Engineering for the processing of materials and substances by biological agents to obtain products and services. The concept of biotechnology is multisectoral by definition, as it constitutes technologies that can be applied in very different areas of activity such as: agriculture, bioenergy, inputs, environment, animal health and human health (ABDI, 2014).
